App Source Reference
Last updated: October 8, 2024
Background
Lumos is the source of truth for "what apps do we use at our company?".
But how do all of the apps get into Lumos? 🤨
When viewing all of your apps, or even a single app, you'll see a column called Source. It looks something like this:
The Source column tells you how Lumos discovered user accounts for that app. Every app in Lumos, as well as every account in that app, can have one to many sources attached to it.
Every time we discover an account in an app, we add a Source logo that shows how we found it.

Use the table below as a reference if you need help interpreting the Source data.
Icon | Source | Source column filter name | Description |
Gmail | Gsuite deep inbox, Gsuite quick inbox | Lumos discovered a possible account for this person by scanning their email subject headers in Google Workspace. Lumos uses AI to decide if an email subject looks account-related. (e.g. "Welcome to Dropbox", "Reset Your Looker Password", etc.)
Google Workspace | Gsuite oauth | Lumos found a Google OAuth token tied to their Google profile. This doesn't guarantee the user still has active access to the app, just that they signed into the app via Google OAuth at some point.
Lumos integration | Lumos integration | A user account was discovered by querying the service provider's API.
Okta | Okta | A user account was discovered in Okta.
