Editing App Info
Last updated: October 8, 2024
Background
Let's say you integrate two instances of the same app to Lumos and need a way to tell them apart. Below are a few example scenarios where this might happen:
You have a separate Google Workspace tenant for each domain you manage
You have two instances of GitHub for different use cases
Your company manages an Okta tenant for FedRAMP apps and another for corporate apps
This article shows you how to edit app details in Lumos to make the name or category more descriptive, and how to edit other key app info.
Finding the edit button
1. Find the app in the Apps tab.
2. Click the "..." button at the end of the row and click "Edit App Info" to edit your app details.
Instructions for how to edit specific app fields are below.
Editing the app name
The name of the app shows up all over Lumos (in the AppStore, in an access review, etc.), so choose something that's clear to any employee using Lumos. See📄 What is the AppStore?
1. Find the app in the Apps tab.
2. Click the "..." button at the end of the row and click "Edit App Info" to edit your app details.
3. In the App Name section, enter an app name that's clear to your employees.
4. Click "Save Changes".
Editing the app logo
1. Find the app in the Apps tab.
2. Click the "..." button at the end of the row and click "Edit App Info" to edit your app details.
3. In the Logo section, enter a public URL that hosts a logo for that app, and only a logo for that app.
When you visit that URL, you should just see the logo and only the logo (no other text or media should live on the page).
4. Click "Save Changes".
Editing the app instructions
The instructions are what someone sees when they request an app in the AppStore. Lumos provides default instructions, but you can edit these to make them more helpful for your employees.
It can be really helpful to provide custom instructions for any app where people are choosing permissions from a dropdown!
1. Find the app in the Apps tab.
2. Click the "..." button at the end of the row and click "Edit App Info" to edit your app details.
3. In the Instructions field, edit the instructions to what you would like your employees to see.
Lumos supports markdown for instructions, so you can embed custom formatting and add hyperlinks to other guides your employees might need to guide them when requesting an app.

Markdown formatting is supported in Slack for italic, bold, hyperlinks, and lists. In the AppStore web UI, you can use the same options as in Slack, but can also add images and horizontal rules.
