App Status Reference

Last updated: October 8, 2024

Background

In the All Apps tab, you may have seen the App Status column and wondered how Lumos determines the status of an app. This article provides some context on the different values, how they're set, and how best to use them.

Approved

Apps are labeled as Approved automatically if they meet one of the following criteria:

Blocklisted

You can set this label on an app if you don't want it to be used by your company.

Marking an app as Blocklisted doesn't impact any functionality in Lumos, it's used simply for reporting purposes.

Deprecated

You can set this label on an app if it's no longer in use by your company.

Apps are labeled as Deprecated automatically if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • They were once active in Okta and are now inactive or deleted. (Apps that were inactive in Okta before connecting Okta to Lumos will never appear in Lumos). See📄 Connecting Okta

  • The app is inactive in Jumpcloud.

Manually marking an app as Deprecated doesn't impact any functionality in Lumos, but if an app is automatically marked as Deprecated due to a status change in your IdP, the App's Discoverability will automatically change to Hidden in the AppStore. See📄 AppStore Configuration Settings

Discovered

Apps are labeled as Discovered automatically if the number of accounts discovered is below your Shadow IT Threshold and the accounts are from any of the following sources:

Needs review

Apps are labeled as Needs Review automatically if the number of accounts discovered is greater than or equal to your Shadow IT Threshold and the accounts are from any of the following sources:

Apps that are labeled as Needs Review will show up on the Unsanctioned Apps tab in the Savings dashboard.
