Assigning Tasks & Setting Due Dates

Last updated: October 22, 2024

Assigning tasks and due dates can be accomplished with just a few clicks! If you’re updating many recurring tasks, or making changes to several tasks at once be sure to take a look at our page on📄 Managing your Template.

Adding Assignees

  1. Hover over a task and select the button to add an assignee

  2. Select a user in your workspace from the dropdown

Using Business Dates

Numeric generally uses business dates when determining due dates unless otherwise specified. Business dates are based on a five day work-week (Monday through Friday) for the specified timezone of your workspace. For example, for November 2023 close, business day one is December 1, 2023. Business day -1 would be November 30, 2023. There is no business day zero in Numeric.

Business dates in Numeric are adjusted for holidays based on the workspace holiday calendar managed in settings. Holidays are essentially treated as another weekend day and therefore not a workday. Refer to📄 Managing Holidaysfor additional details.

Using Calendar Dates

To set a recurring calendar date (e.g., the 15th of every month), select the "Calendar Day" option when setting the due date. If you would like to set an annual task due on a specific calendar date each year, utilize the following approach:

  1. Select "Custom" as the frequency

  2. Choose the period before the due date as this represents the close period when the task will appear. For example, if you want a task due March 15th every year, select "February" as the custom frequency period and the due date as calendar day 15.

Note: Calendar due dates are not automatically adjusted if they fall on a weekend or a holiday. Refer to the One-Time adjustments below if you would like to adjust this due date while working in a specific close period.

Setting Specific Calendar Due Dates

  1. Hover over a task and select the button to add a due date

  2. Determine whether you’d like to set a recurring due date or a one-off due date

    1. If setting a recurring due date, choose between a business day offset or specific calendar day due date. The actual due date will be calculated and set within each month.

    2. If setting a one-off due date for a task that you would prefer not repeat, choose “One-Time” and pick a specific date on the calendar

  3. To set a due date that goes beyond the typical month-end calendar (for example, annual filing requirements for the December period), you must set these as one-time due dates within a close period. To do this, add the task to your period with the desired frequency (e.g., Annually). From there, select the due date within the close period and choose a "One-Time" frequency and select the date in the future when this should be completed:

If you have a recurring task and you’d like to override the due date for one specific month, simply click on the due date and toggle to “One-Time” and pick a date on the calendar. Choosing a “One-Time” due date for a task that is already recurring will not impact the series of future tasks.
