Setting A Default Time Length For Time-Based Access

Last updated: October 7, 2024

Background

So, you've enabled time-based access for a number of your applications in your AppStore!

Have you run into a problem where your users are accidentally requesting 2 hours when they actually mean to request Unlimited? Since we have by default ordered our time-based access options to prioritize the shortest access first (by design 😉), this isn't an unlikely scenario today!

Maybe this is causing more pain and confusion than you'd like... enter, time based access defaults!

Now for each app in your AppStore you can (optionally) configure a default time, which will make Lumos easier to use (& make your apps easier to request!).

Instructions

1. Go to the app's AppStore configurations and you'll see a new dropdown called Default Time Length.

You can click the dropdown, which will allow you to configure the Default Time Length for that app.

FAQs

1. I don't see the Time Length I'm looking for!

The dropdown populates based on the app-level options that have been enabled. Please make sure that the option you're looking to select as a default is enabled!

2. What happens if I have set a default that isn't available on my Permission?

For example, you have the Default Time Length set to Unlimited, and Permission X only has 2 hours and 4 hours available. When you go to request Permission X, since Unlimited isn't a valid default option, it will require you to make a selection (we will not default).

If Permission X only has 2 hours available, we will default to 2 hours as that's the only option to request.
