Connecting Jira

Last updated: October 7, 2024

Background

This article walks through the steps for connecting Jira to Lumos and helps you resolve common setup issues.

Required plan & roles

To connect and leverage the Jira integration, your organization needs to use Jira Service Management.

If your organization is using Jira's team-managed (next-gen) projects, please contact us via email/Slack so we can review your use case before you proceed with the connection.

You need to be logged in as a Jira Admin to connect the Jira Cloud integration. To connect the Jira Server integration, you must be a Site Admin.

Jira Cloud instructions

If your organization is on Jira Cloud, follow the steps below.

1. Click on the Jira card in your Lumos integrations (Reconnect or add new).

2. Choose Jira Cloud in the dropdown.

3. Enter only the subdomain of your Jira tenant URL (if your full URL is cyberdyne.atlassian.net, you would just enter cyberdyne.

4. Click Connect Jira and accept the Oauth scopes to connect the integration.

Jira Server instructions

If your organization is on Jira Server, please follow the instructions below.

1. Click on the Jira card in your Lumos integrations (Reconnect or add new).

2. Choose Jira Server in the dropdown.

3. Copy the base site url (e.g. https://jira.custom-domain.com) from your Jira tenant and paste it in the Base URL field in Lumos. More info on how to retrieve your Jira site URL is here.

4. Select your profile picture in the top right of the screen, then select Profile > Personal Access Tokens.

Make sure you're logged into Jira as a Site Admin before generating your token!
