Adding custom data to your apps

You'll know how to add custom data to your apps in Lumos that helps you better understand what licenses or entitlements your employees have. 👀

Background

Let's say you’re conducting an access review in Lumos and the accounts you're looking at were pulled directly from a Lumos integration, or via your IdP (i.e. Okta).

If the default columns from the integration aren't quite enough, you might want to add another column of info that you downloaded directly from the service outside of Lumos (e.g. roles or permissions).

You may also have added a custom app to Lumos at some point, and you want to refresh the data for an upcoming audit. See📄 Adding a custom app

Fear not! 😎 You can enrich the data that Lumos pulled in, or that you uploaded earlier for a custom app by following the steps below.

Steps

As an example, we'll update Google Workspace in Lumos to include a custom column, "Hogwarts House".

1. Click “Import Accounts” on the top right, which will prompt you to upload a CSV.

More information on the validations for uploaded files can be found here:📄 Custom Data (CSV) Formatting Requirements

2. After attaching a file, you'll be prompted to map any additional fields.

For us, this is “Hogwarts House”.

The name of the field on the right is what will show up in Lumos, while the name of the field on the left is the column header of your CSV.

3. Select “Preview Table”, which will take you to a preview of the data.

If the upload fails, make sure the mapping follows our formatting requirements! See📄 Custom Data (CSV) Formatting Requirements

4. If you're happy with the data, click "Finish Import". Otherwise, go back to step 2 and update the mappings.

You’ll see the “Source” column is updated for rows that matched to existing accounts with an additional “Manual” icon (the silhouette of a person).
