Adding a custom app

You'll be able to add a custom app to Lumos! You can use custom apps to track users for applications that aren't integrated with Lumos, or as a resource people can request in the AppStore.

If you want to add or update custom data on an app that's already in Lumos, start here instead:📄 Adding custom data to your apps

Background

While Lumos has a few tricks to pull in all the apps used by your organization 🪄 , there may be a couple of apps we cannot detect, such as internal applications that do not sit behind your Identity Provider!

Can you put that in the App Store for users to request?

Can you conduct an access review on that app?

Yes, by adding it as a custom app in Lumos! ✅

Steps

1. Go to the All Apps page.

2. Click "Add App".

3. Add some details for your custom app!

Add a name, logo, description, and even define a category for your application.

Click Continue, then View App to view your new app!

[Optional] Upload a CSV of user data

To upload user data to the app, click the Import Accounts button to begin the process.

Data must be uploaded in CSV format.

1. Upload the CSV file

More information on validations for the file can be found here:📄 Custom Data (CSV) Formatting Requirements

2. Match your CSV columns

We require one or both of the following combinations before you can continue:

  • First Name and Last Name

  • Email

You can add any other columns you want by clicking +Add, mapping the field to a column in your CSV, then giving the field a name in Lumos.

The Delimiter Used section at the bottom lets you configure a delimiter to add multiple fields under the same permission. For instance, if you need to assign multiple "Role" fields to the same account, you can configure the delimiter within a column to accommodate this.

3. Check your work & import that app!

Click Preview Table to see a preview of your CSV data before you confirm the upload.

Happy with what you see? Click Finish Import and you're all set! 🙌

The data may take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours to appear.

You'll be able to see the app on the Apps page, with a special icon to indicate that it has manually-imported data!
