Opening and Closing a Period

Numeric offers a few different ways to open an accounting period, which are outlined below (click on the arrow next to each option for written and visual steps on how to accomplish). Only users with the Administrator role in the workspace are able to open, close or reopen a period.

It is important to remember that when opening your next period, that newly opened period becomes the only period that will capture new tasks and merge them into your overall checklist template. For example, if October 2023 is open and I open November 2023, any tasks that I then create in October 2023 will not automatically be added to the checklist template. The template will only be looking at the changes to made to the November 2023 checklist. For more details on managing your checklist, please refer to 📄 Getting Started: Checklist.

Opening a Period

Close App Landing Page

  1. Click on the Close App

  2. On the landing page, you will see your Open periods

  3. Click on the "Upcoming" header

  4. Click to open the period

  5. Review and confirm the impacts from opening a period and hit "Open" (note: "Open" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Within Existing Period

  1. Within an existing close period, click on the month on the upper left of the page

  2. The resulting dropdown of months will show the next period and give you the option to "click to open"

  3. Click to open the period

  4. Review and confirm the impacts from opening a period and hit "Open" (note: "Open" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Closing a Period

Numeric Application Homepage

  1. After logging into Numeric, your open periods appear on the homepage

  2. Click the "Close period" option next to the open period shown on the homepage

  3. Review and confirm the impacts from closing a period and hit "Close" (note: "Close" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Close App Landing Page

  1. Click on the Close App

  2. On the landing page, you will see your Open periods

  3. Click the "Close period" on the open period that you wish to close

  4. Review and confirm the impacts from closing a period and hit "Close" (note: "Close" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Within Existing Period

  1. Within an existing close period, click on the month on the upper left of the page

  2. The resulting dropdown of months will show all periods by year

  3. Click "Close period" on the month that you wish to close

  4. Review and confirm the impacts from closing a period and hit "Close" (note: "Close" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Reopening a Period

  1. Click on the Close App

  2. On the landing page, you will see your Open periods

  3. Click on the "Closed" header

  4. Click to reopen the desired period

  5. Review and confirm the impacts from reopening a period and hit "Open" (note: "Open" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)

Within Existing Period

  1. Click on the Close App

  2. On the landing page, you will see your Open periods

  3. Click on the "Closed" header

  4. Click to reopen the desired period

  5. Review and confirm the impacts from reopening a period and hit "Open" (note: "Open" will be greyed out until you have acknowledge the prompts by checking them off)
