Calculated Measures and Dimensions

Last updated: October 29, 2024

In Aleph, measures are numerical values that you can perform calculations on, such as sums, averages, or counts. Dimensions, on the other hand, are descriptive attributes like names, dates, or categories that help to segment and analyze your measures. Creating calculated measures and dimensions allows you to customize your data analysis to suit your specific needs.

Create Measures and Dimensions

  1. Go to https://app.getaleph.com/tables and select a table

  2. Click on "Manage calculated columns"

  3. Select "Add New Calculated Measure" or "Add New Calculated Dimension" depending on what you would like to add

  4. Write the logic for the measure or the dimension

  5. Click "Save"

Calculate measures or dimensions won't be materialized in the Aleph web app, they will show up in the Aleph add-in when you use any feature to pull data.
