Connecting Looker

After this article...

You'll be able to connect the Looker integration to Lumos and resolve common issues that arise when connecting.

Required plan & roles

There's no minimum plan required to use the Looker integration.

Your Looker user needs to be an Admin to connect this integration.

Instructions

1. Click on the Looker card in your Lumos integrations (Reconnect or add new).

2. Enter the required values. Instructions on how to get them from Looker are below.

Looker Instance URL: Get the Host URL from your Looker tenant and remove the "http://" part. For example, https://example.cloud.looker.com should be entered into Lumos as example.cloud.looker.com.

Looker API URL: Get the API Host URL from your Looker tenant and remove the "http://" part.

If you leave this empty, we'll assume the API Host URL is the same as the Host URL.

Looker Client ID/Looker Client Secret: Create an API key on the Users page in the Admin section of your Looker instance. This will generate a Client ID and Secret you can plug into Lumos.

Looker API keys are always bound to a Looker user. API requests execute "as" the user associated with the API credentials. Calls to the API will only return data that the user is allowed to see, and modify only what the user is allowed to modify. If this is a concern to you, we recommend using a service account.

3. Click "Connect Looker"

Troubleshooting

I cannot connect Looker.

Make sure that you enter the Looker URLs into Lumos without the "http://" or "https://" part at the beginning, and that your Looker user is an Admin.
