Activating Your Lumos Account

Last updated: October 7, 2024

Background

Employees shouldn't be admins for hundreds of web apps with excessive permissions. But then again, nobody wants to be stuck in IT ticket queues for days to get the right access. With Lumos, employees have the right access to the right apps for the right amount of time.

  • 💰 Save $$$ in License Costs Discover unnecessary shadow IT and auto-remove licenses from apps that employees don't need or use anymore.

  • 🏃‍♀ Automate up to 35% of your IT Tickets The Lumos AppStore automates provisioning and enables employees to request access to apps using self-service.

  • 🔐 Implement Least-Privilege / Zero-Trust Give out temporary access (JIT) for privileged accounts to ensure users have only as much access as they need.

  • 👀 Say Goodbye to Time-Consuming Access Reviews Automate access reviews with self-service workflows to app owners or managers to fulfill audit requirements.

But, how do you create a Lumos account? Follow these easy instructions and you'll be ready to go!

Step 1: Connect your email provider

Lumos will build your app catalog by:

  • Finding all apps your employees signed into through your email provider.

  • Running an AI algorithm on your email subject lines to find apps your employees signed up for using a username and password.

Google Workspace

Check that you have access to Google Workspace domain-wide delegation before starting.

  1. Go to app.lumosidentity.com and sign in with Google using an account with access to Google domain-wide delegation.

  2. After signing in with Google, you'll land on an onboarding page with steps to connect Google Workspace. Complete these steps and click Start Account Discovery to finish the setup!

Microsoft

Check that your Office365 user has access to the Microsoft admin panel before starting.

  1. Go to app.lumosidentity.com and sign in with Microsoft using your Admin account.

  2. After signing in, you'll be redirected to accept the OAuth scopes requested by Lumos for Office365. Accept these scopes to finish the setup!

Step 2: Connect your identity provider

Lumos can discover users and application activity related to apps managed in your IdP automatically.

Go to the Connect More Integrations tab in Lumos and click on the tile linked to your IdP to connect the integration. More details on the most common IdPs can be found here.

Step 3: Connect Slack

Connect Slack and then enable Slack notifications to get notified of key access-related events. See📄 Connecting Slack and📄 Notification Settings

Step 4: Connect more integrations

To get the most value from Lumos, we recommend connecting Lumos to more of your company-managed apps.

Go to the Connect More Integrations tab in Lumos to connect more applications and start finding opportunities to cut costs and improve your company's security posture!
